About the Role

Progress Weight Management is hiring a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide obesity medicine and medical weight management care in Fargo.

You will work with patients living with obesity and weight-related health conditions. Rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach, you will look at each patient’s health history, medications, lab results, symptoms and goals to create an individualized treatment plan.

This role is a good fit for a provider who wants to build long-term patient relationships, develop specialized knowledge in obesity medicine and help patients understand their treatment options without judgment or shame.

Experience in weight management, endocrinology or primary care is helpful, but it is not required. We are open to a strong clinician who wants to grow in this area.

What You’ll Do

  • Provide individualized medical care for patients living with excess weight, obesity and related health conditions

  • Evaluate and manage anti-obesity medications, including GLP-1 medications

  • Adjust treatment based on patient response, side effects, medical history and changing needs

  • Order and interpret laboratory tests and diagnostic studies

  • Educate patients about medications, lifestyle changes, medical options, surgical options and long-term weight management

  • Monitor patient progress and update treatment plans as needed

  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals and refer patients for additional support when appropriate

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record

  • Follow HIPAA requirements and clinical standards

Who We’re Looking For

You see obesity as a complex medical condition, not a lack of effort or willpower. You listen before making assumptions and can explain medical information in a way patients can understand.

You have strong clinical judgment and feel comfortable managing chronic health conditions, reviewing lab results and adjusting treatment plans. You also enjoy working with a team and continuing to build your knowledge.

You may already have experience prescribing anti-obesity medications, or you may be ready to develop that skill with education and support.

Qualifications

  • Current Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in North Dakota

  • Current Minnesota license or willingness to obtain one

  • Master’s or doctoral degree in nursing, or graduation from an accredited physician assistant program

  • Current national certification as an NP or PA-C

  • Strong clinical judgment and commitment to evidence-based care

  • Experience in weight management, endocrinology or primary care preferred, but not required

  • Experience with electronic medical records preferred

  • Willingness to complete additional education or certification through the Obesity Medicine Association within one year of hire

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit, stand, walk and bend throughout the workday

  • Ability to assist patients and lift up to 25 pounds when needed
